~~William “Bill” Saller, 90, of Florham Park passed away on May 25, 2017. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, 1 Lloyd Ave in Florham Park, NJ, on Monday, June 5th at 10am. Interment will follow at Fair Lawn Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. in Chatham on Sunday from 5 to 8pm with a time of remembrance at 6:30pm.

Bill was born May 8, 1927 in Passaic NJ, to Joseph and Mary Saller. He attended Eastside HS and graduated in June 1944. He then joined the Navy in 1945 and was honorably discharged in 1946. He received a BSEE from NJIT in 1949, an MSIE from Columbia in 1954, and an LLB from La Salle in 1970. Bill worked for Public Service Electric & Gas for almost 40 years, starting out as a Cadet Engineer in 1949 and held 13 different management positions during the next 39 years. He retired as VP Governmental Affairs in 1988. He was very active in the community throughout his whole life, including Rotary, local politics, and scouting.

While living in Cinnaminson, NJ, from 1960-1965, Bill was a member of the town council and became mayor in 1965. He was also the first President of the Holy Name Society of St. Charles Borromeo Church, a member and Director of the Palmyra-Riverton Rotary Club, and was a Scoutmaster of Troop 95.

While living in Bridgewater, NJ, from 1966 to 1988, Bill held positions as President of the Somerville Rotary Club, President and member of Bridgewater Township Council, and Scoutmaster of Troop 88. He also served as a Director of the NJ Utilities Association, President of the Utilities State Government Organization, Co-Chair of the Mid-Atlantic Labor and Management Affairs Committee, and Chairman of both Federal and State Political Action Committees in PSE&G.

While living in Florham Park, NJ, from 1988 until his death, Bill was a member and President of Madison Rotary Club, President of Madison Rotary Club Foundation, Chairman of the Board of Managers of the American Cancer Society, Essex County unit, and President of the PSE&G Retired Employees, Pocono Chapter.

Bill loved the water and spent many memorable times with his friends and family sailing in the Caribbean Sea as well as power boating from NJ to Florida, taking 22 wonderful journeys on these sailing and power boat rides. He was fondly remembered as “The Admiral” by his grandchildren, who accompanied him multiple times. He loved stopping at The Bitter End on Virgin Gorda Island in the BVI and treat everyone to a Pina Colada. Here he was in paradise.

Bill is survived by his companion of 28 years Dorothy Wilson, sons Bruce (Catherine) and Kenneth (Sue), his previous wife Dorothy Ververs of Bridgewater, and 8 grand-children, Jennifer, Brian, Kevin, Katie, and Connor Saller of Colorado, Eileen Saller of California, and Andrew and Byron Saller of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his daughter Bonnie Phillips (Robert) and his sister Irene West. Contributions can be made in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society, Madison Rotary Club Foundation, or Rotary International.
