Walter Alan Burke

Walter A. Burke, 88, of Palm Beach, Florida died peacefully at his home on Sunday November 29, 2015.

Born on October 9, 1927 in West New Brighton, NY, Walter grew up in Staten Island. Upon graduation from high School in 1945, he entered the United States Navy,

Where he served two years as an enlisted man obtaining the rank of Seaman First Class after completing radio code school and duty in North Africa.

Walter then attended Wagner College, graduating in 1951. While in school he was recalled to active duty in the Korean conflict. He attended OCS attaining the rank of Lieutenant JG. He served at the Naval Security Station Washington DC for two and a half years

After serving in the Navy Walter worked as a Stock Broker at Ernst & Company and lived on the Upper East Side before moving to Palm Beach, Florida in 1993.

Walter loved his family dearly and he will be forever missed.

He was predeceased by his brother, James Richard. He is survived by his loving sister, Audrey: sister-in-law Elaine: his nieces and nephews Linda, Richard, Carol, Tracy, James, Paula and Jeffrey and his great nieces and nephews Holly, Michael, Cory Kelly, Ryan, Ashley, Timmy, Trip, Michael, Kelsey, Caitlin, Andrew, Robbie, Evan, Lauren and Ryan.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 1:00 to 2:15 p.m. at the Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. Chatham, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at Corpus Christi Church, 234 Southern Blvd., Chatham, NJ 07928. An interment will follow at St. Teresa’s Cemetery, Summit, NJ.
