~~Patricia ‘Trish’ Mahoney

Beloved wife, mother, sister Patricia”Trish” Mahoney, 58, of New Providence, N.J. died on Jan. 11, 2018, at Pennsylvania Presbyterian Hospital. Trish, who recently battled the flu and pneumonia, finally succumbed due to associated complications. Services for Trish will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, at St. Patrick’s Church, 45 Chatham St., Chatham, N.J.

Born on Nov. 14, 1959 in the Orange section of New Jersey, Trish was raised in Chatham with siblings Michael (Cindi, Marisa, Patrick, Sean), Brian (Janice, Caroline, Danny, Kevin), and Megan (Joe, Quinn, Michaela, Seamus). Summers were spent on Cedar Lake in Denville, N.J., as well as many sunny weeks in Spring Lake, N.J., where she played with her many cousins. Here, wonderful memories were generated for years to come, as recently as this past summer, with her family. In her youth, Trish enjoyed friends and sports and turned many heads with her beauty. Trish graduated from Chatham High School and Lock Haven State College of Pennsylvania, where she met Lou Alberse, the father of their three children. (Lou passed on Dec. 29, 2014). They resided in New Jersey, where their three children (Tara, Caitlin, and LJ) were born. Over time, they grew apart and divorced. As a single mom, Trish was a hard worker and a loving and committed mother, who provided for her children. Trish faithfully attended every soccer game of her oldest daughter, Tara, who played for New Providence High School and Moravian College. Trish was that crazy soccer mom we all like to talk about. Her other daughter, Caitlin, shared Trish’s sense of fashion, and with LJ, she shared the love of animals. Over this past summer, Trish and LJ welcomed a golden retriever puppy they named Geri, after their love of The Spice Girls. The children are left with loving memories of a mother’s unconditional love and support, strong family values, and faith, which are the real riches in life. Some of you may remember Trish from Chatham High School, college, and the mortgage industry, running the grill at Minisink or her joy of being a nanny for your children. Trish was blessed to work for the White Family in Chatham. With Paul and Sarah, she helped care for their three boys for the last four years.

Now for the town’s best little love story: In the summer of 2008, Trish was forced by friends and family to go to the “Chatham Boro High School’s Great Reunion.” Her mother, Winnie, made her go to the mall and buy a new dress. That night, wearing the perfect dress, under the big white top tent, Trish caught the eye of fellow Eskie, Jon Behre. From that moment on, Trish and Jon courted for many years. Jon was a steadfast pillar for Trish and her family when she lost both parents. In July 2017, they tied the knot at the Chatham Gazebo, surrounded by close family and friends, making their family even bigger and better with the inclusion of Jon’s two boys, Justin and Chris. Together, Trish and Jon made a home for their family in Point Pleasant, N.J., where they enjoyed tranquil weekend get-aways, warm weather and fun nights with new found friends at the beach. Trish loved the ocean, as well as her children, family, and Jon.

To remember Trish, we ask that in some small way you help provide a better future for her children. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the children via gofundme.com/trishfamilyfund. We know she would forever be grateful. God Bless and thank you.
