Susan Lynn Pomeroy
01/05/1958 - 07/28/2016

Susan Lynn Cummings Pomeroy, daughter of the late Charles Carroll Cummings and Jacqueline Martha Hickcox Cummings, was born January 5, 1958 in Colonie, New York. Susan grew up in Clifton Park, New York where she attended pre-school through high school at Shenendehowa Central. She graduated from high school in 1976 and then attended the State University of New York at Cortland, graduating in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.

Susan married her high school sweetheart, Daniel J. Pomeroy, in September 1983. After moving to New Jersey she worked for IT&T from November 1983 to 1987, and later worked for Lois Schneider Realtors from 2005 until recently. She was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church and the Canoe Brook Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf and paddle tennis.

Over the past three years of her life, Susan engaged in a ferocious battle with uterine cancer. During this period, her cheerful and positive smile, her bravery, and her beautiful disposition and love of life never left her. She was an inspiration and source of strength to her family and friends. During her illness Susan raised thousands of dollars to benefit rare cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan.

Susan ended her battle with cancer on July 28, 2016, at home, surrounded by her family. She now rests in the love of God.

Susan is survived by her husband Daniel J. Pomeroy, and their four beautiful daughters: Jill Jacqueline Pomeroy, Grace Catherine Pomeroy, Mary Cecilia Ray Pomeroy and Cathleen Cummings Pomeroy. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Cummings, and her sister, Kim Cummings Nightingale.

A Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Calvary Episcopal Church, 31 Woodland Ave., Summit, NJ 07901. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to support rare cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
