Stefan Haniak

Stefan Haniak, 68, a 36 year resident of Chatham Township, NJ, passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 25, 2019. Visiting hours at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. in Chatham, NJ will be held on Sunday, September 29th from 4 to 8pm.  There will be a graveside service at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ on Tuesday, October 1 at 12:30pm.

Born in Belgium, the son of Osyp and Olga (Storozuk) Haniak, Stefan came to the United States in 1956. First settling in Newark, he also lived in Irvington where he graduated from High School in 1969 and was co-captain of the soccer team.  Stefan played semi-pro soccer prior to being drafted, and proudly served as a Sgt. medic in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he attended classes at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. Stefan was a General Manager at several retail stores including Great Eastern, Hills Supermarket and A&P.  A PROUD LIFELONG MEMBER OF THE VIETNAM VETERANS OF AMERICA CHAPTER 688, he enjoyed all sports and was an avid fan of the NY Yankees, NY Giants and the US Women’s National Soccer Team.  Stefan also loved music and the beach but most of all he loved being with his family.

Stefan was the beloved husband of 46 years to Helen. He was the loving father of Christina Sara and her husband Jamie and Diana Haniak. He is also survived by his cherished granddaughter Stevie, his dear brothers, Bo Haniak and his wife Joyce and Bill Haniak and his wife Nancy, his nieces and nephew, Janet, Tina, Michelle and Joseph, his mother-in-law, Anna Duda, and brothers-in-law Michael Duda and Dr. Peter Duda.. “In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Stefan Haniak’s memory to support Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Funeral:
A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00pm during the visitation.
Committal:
There will be a graveside service at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd., Wrightstown, NJ on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 12:30pm.
