Rosalie J. Claytor, 76, of Dunellen, New Jersey passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Kindred Hospital, Rahway, NJ.
Rosalie was born on May 24, 1941 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. James and Amelia (nee Federico) Rannazzisi.
She attended Villa Victory Academy in Trenton NJ. After graduation she attended nursing school but left to get married to Patrick J. McGovern, and start a family. While raising her children she volunteered at their schools, was a Brownie leader, worked on political campaigns and sang in the church choir at St. Mary of Mount Virgin. At the age of 40, she went back to nursing school and realized her lifelong dream of becoming a registered nurse. Rosalie worked as a nurse at Muhlenberg Hospital, Plainfield, NJ from 1983 until the hospital closed in 2007. She continued her vocation at Summit Oaks Hospital, Summit, NJ until retirement in 2015. Her first marriage ended in divorce after 20 years of marriage.
Rosalie was remarried in 1987 and predeceased by her husband, Robert E. Claytor, in 1996. She was the loving mother of Amelia McGovern and husband Jess Berkowitz and Patrick McGovern, Jr. and wife Jeanine. She was the cherished grandmother of Holly, Michael, Jillian, Bailey, Spencer, Kenna and Kylie. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Santo Rannazzisi and wife Barbara.
Rosalie loved her 2 dogs, Big Boy and Baby and her African grey parrot, Zsa Zsa. In her spare time, she enjoyed singing karaoke and knitting and playing all types of games, including cards, dominoes and scrabble.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Avenue, Springfield, NJ 07081. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed in her name to the New Eyes for the Needy, 549 Millburn Avenue, Short Hills, NJ 07078.
