Robert L. Daniels

~~Robert L Daniels of Chatham, formerly of Oakland and Little Falls NJ, died on February 26, 2014. He was 81 years young.

Devoted son of the late Odaline (Simons) and Leslie Daniels of Port Chester, NY. Dear brother of Gene Daniels & his wife, Ann, of Tampa, FL and Edward Daniels of Dover. Beloved father of Marc Daniels & his wife, Mary Beth, of West Tisbury, MA, Lisa Spaulding & her husband, Dick, of Albany, VT and David Daniels of Spring Lake, NJ. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and cherished friends.

Robert was a resident of Chatham for over 30 years and for the past decade served the community as a dedicated employee at the Library of the Chathams.

Robert had a lifelong love affair with the arts, music, film and theater, which was evident throughout his personal and professional life. Robert served in the US Army as a Corporal overseeing entertainment for the troops. He worked for many years in record stores in Dumont, Englewood and Summit. His enchantment with the theater led to a career as a theater critic where he wrote thousands of reviews for community and Broadway productions including a 20-year stint at Variety. He directed and acted in plays at community theaters, and also authored a book entitled Laurence Olivier: Theater and Cinema.

Visiting Hours will be held on Saturday, 3/1, at William A Bradley & Son Funeral Home located at 345 Main St in Chatham. The family will receive visitors on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. A service will immediately follow the viewing at 3:30 P.M. and will be held at the Chatham United Methodist Church, 460 Main Street, Chatham.
