Robert (“Bob”) C. Carter, 60, of Lakewood Ranch, FL, formerly of Basking Ridge, NJ, passed away at home on Saturday, July 30, 2016 from Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD).

Bob was born on April 27, 1956 in Brooklyn, NY, and soon moved to Madison, NJ, graduating from Madison High School in 1974. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Marietta College in Marietta, OH in 1978, and his Masters of Business Administration in Finance from Rutgers Graduate School of Management in Newark, NJ.

Bob is survived by his adoring wife of 34 years, Dianna (nee Demakos) Carter and his three loving children, Robert C. Carter, Jr., of Fort Lee, NJ, Caroline A. Carter, of Lakewood Ranch, FL, and Jacqueline E. Carter, of New Orleans, LA. Bob is also survived by his mother, Ethel (nee Grow) Carter, of Madison, NJ, his sister, Virginia Rosenberg and her husband, Larry Rosenberg, of Bend, OR, and his brother, William R. Carter, Jr., of Chatham, NJ. He also will be missed by many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his father,William R. Carter, and his sister, Ellen R. Carter.

Bob enjoyed a rewarding career as an investment banker, most recently as Chief Financial Officer/Finance Director/Global Transaction Banking, Americas, at Deutsche Bank, from which he retired in 2012. He began his career at Chase Manhattan Bank, and later held escalating positions in financial management at Smith Barney, Inc. and Pricewaterhouse Coopers before joining Deutsche Bank in 1998.

In his leisure, Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and his faithful poodle, skiing inVermont and cycling and relaxing at the beach in Stone Harbor, NJ. Friends and family will miss Bob’s kindness, easygoing and steadfast nature, quick smile and quiet intelligence.

Visitation will be held at the William A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home at 345 Main Street in Chatham NJ, on Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016 at St. James Church at 184 South Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, NJ, at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, 145 Mount Airy Road, Bernardsville, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s name to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, Radnor Station Building 2, Suite 320, 290 King of Prussia Road, Radnor, PA, 19087, would be appreciated. Additionally, friends and family are encouraged to perform simple acts of kindness to honor a man all will remember fondly as a genuinely nice guy.
