Richard R. Savage, 92 of Florham Park, New Jersey, died on June 24, 2018. Born on December 12, 1925 in Brimfield, Illinois to Rudolph D. and Blanche Catton Savage, he married Patricia M. Dungan on November 26, 1950. She survives him. Also surviving are a son Mark R. Savage and his wife Roberta, daughter Story S. Bergeson and her husband Douglas, and daughter Laurie A. Pribula and her husband Stephen; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother Keith and a sister Eloise Welsh. Richard graduated from DePauw University, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta, and did graduate work at Northwestern University. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, who served during World War II, being commissioned from Fort Schuyler in the Bronx, New York, and served aboard the USS Swenning DE-394 in the South Pacific as First Lieutenant and as the last Commanding Officer at age 20. He worked in the insurance business from 1948 and retired as Executive Vice President of Insurance Services Office in 1987 and then served Home Insurance Company as Senior Vice President, retiring in 1994. He then served as an expert witness and as consultant in many noted insurance cases. During the course of his career he served on the Board of Directors of Insurance Information Institute , the Motor Vehicle Accident Indemnification Corporation, the Association of New Hampshire Domestic Insurance Companies and the California Association of Insurance Companies. He was a longtime member of the Mendham Gold and Tennis Club and served on the Greens Committee and the Board of Governors. He had been a member of the Drug and Chemical Club, the Bankers Club and the City Midday Club, all of New York City, and the Union League Club of Chicago.

There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 4pm at the Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main Street in Chatham, New Jersey. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday from 2pm until the service begins. Contributions in memory of Richard may be made to the Morristown Medical Center.
