~~Richard E. Kiefer, 75, died in the late morning hours on Saturday, August 26, 2017 while under the care of Hospice at the Legacy House in Ocala surrounded by his family. He was born into this life on January 2, 1942 in Newark, NJ and was the son to the late William Kiefer and Doris Carlin. He is survived by his daughters, Lynn McCabe (Keith Pierce), NC, Lori Valenti(Phil), Louisiana; his six grandchildren, six great- grandchildren and his loving companion, Karen O’Neill, Dunnellon, FL.

Richard served our country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War era of 1964-1967 as Sergeant obtaining a Marksman Badge-Rifle M-14 and Carbine, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He retired in 2000 from Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG). Richard was an avid NY Mets Fan and his hobby was Landscaping in which he took great pride. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, 9/1 at 12:00 noon at Bradley, Haeberle, and Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Avenue, Union, NJ 07083. Friends may visit on Thursday between 7-9 and Friday morning between 10-12 prior to the service. Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park.
