Peter G. Vrahnos, 84 of Millburn, NJ passed away March 14, 2018 at the New Jersey Firemen’s Home in Boonton, NJ after a long illness. A funeral service will be held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 119 Main St. in Millburn on Saturday, March 17th at 10:00am. Interment will follow at St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit at Bradley, Smith & Smith, 415 Morris Ave., in Springfield on Friday from 4 to 8pm.
Born and raised in Millburn, Pete retired as a Millburn fireman in 1981. Pete then worked for AT&T Bell Labs and Lucent Technologies, retiring after thirteen years. He was the superintendent for St. Stephen’s Cemetery (affectionately known as Peter’s Park) in Millburn for 32 years. He thoroughly enjoyed the Lord’s work keeping the grounds of the cemetery neat and clean. He served on the St. Stephen’s building and grounds committee, the vestry and ushered at Sunday services. Throughout his retirement, he stayed active with Meals on Wheels, the local Red Cross, and New Eyes for the needy.
Peter is predeceased by his father, George Vrahnos, and his mother, Mae (Baiely) Vrahnos, his son, Steven, and his sister, Carol Walling. He is survived by his son, Donald and his wife, Barbara of Newton, NJ.
