Patricia Murphy (nee: Partington), 81, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014. Born in Summit, Pat was raised in Millburn, and has lived in Springfield for 55 years.
A graduate of Millburn High School, Pat earned her degree in BSN and MSN from Seton Hall University College of Nursing. Pat has enjoyed a long career in Nursing, helping patients in Obstetrics and Oncology departments, as well as retiring as senior faculty member at Muhlenberg College of Nursing in Plainfield. Pat was very involved in the Springfield Democratic Committee, and as parishioner, lector and Eucharistic minister at St. James the Apostle Church, Springfield.
Predeceased by her husband Wilfred “Jack” Murphy; Pat is survived by her son Wilfred “Bill” Murphy; daughter Margaret Murphy Walsh; grandchildren Kaitlin, Caroline, Jonathan and Gregory Murphy, and Colleen, Erin, James and Maggie Walsh; sister Janet Ginty; and brother John “Jay” Partington.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 10am at St James the Apostle Church, 45 S. Springfield Ave., Springfield. Interment will follow at St Teresa’s Cemetery, Summit. There will be a visitation on Wednesday from 4-8pm at the Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home 415 Morris Ave., Springfield.
