Olena Vaskul

~~Olena Vaskul, 77, of East Hanover, passed away on Thursday, Septeber 22, 2016.

Born on June 17, 1939 in Kosmach, Ukraine, Olena attended the Pedagogical University of Ivano-Frankivsk, earning a Masters degree in Education. She went on to teach physics and math at Kosmach High School for 42 years. She was very active in the Ukrainian community and very active in Ukraine’s independence movement in 1991. She was a member of the Ukrainian Craftsman Association and the Hutsul Folk Ensemble. Olena was a talented embroiderer, whose works of embroidery were exhibited in museums in Kyiv, Ivano-Frankisvk and Kolomiya. In 2005, Olena came to the United States and settled in East Hanover.

Olena is survived by her husband Ivan; daughters Dr. Roksolana Leshchuk and her husband Ivan and their children Kalyna and Uliana; Dr. Ivanna Vaskul and her husband Dr. Volodymyr Petrash and their children Marta and Yaryna; and Dr. Oksana Dolishna and her husband Dr. Michailo Dolishny and their children Andriy, and Natalka and her husband Maksym Povarenko. Olena is also survived by her great grandchild Olia.
