~~Nancy Steinen Bridgeman of Summit and Spring Lake, NJ died peacefully at Juniper Village in Chatham NJ on November 16, 2017. She was 92.
Nancy was a proud lifelong NJ resident; she was born in South Orange in 1925 to Anna R Steinen and William Steinen and grew up surrounded by the love of her parents and siblings Alma, Bill and MaryJane. She married Robert Dexheimer in 1946, and moved to Summit in 1965 with their four children: Peter, Susan, Heidi and Craig. Following Bob’s death in 1972, Nancy married John Bridgeman of Maplewood, NJ in 1975. They were married until his death in 2015.
Nancy attended Skidmore College and Katherine Gibbs School in NYC. Though Nancy enjoyed the finer things – including a good St. John Knit and memberships at Baltusrol and Manasquan River Golf Clubs – she also relished life’s simple pleasures, like a dish of ice cream, cocktails on the porch in Spring Lake with her family and a spontaneous big band dance.
Nancy’s greatest love of all was her family. She leaves behind her beloved three children and their spouses, son Peter Dexheimer and his wife Kimberly Greve; daughter Heidi Dulany and husband Patrick Dulany; son Craig Dexheimer and wife Eileen Dexheimer. She was predeceased by her cherished daughter Susan Dexheimer (1953-1966). She is also survived by her nine grandchildren; Robert Dexheimer, Scott Dulany (and wife Rebecca), Jessica Dexheimer, Kyle Dexheimer, Peter Dulany (and wife Faith), Christopher Dexheimer, Griffin Dulany, Tate Dulany and Anna Dexheimer all whom loved her “a bushel and a peck and a squeeze around the neck – and then some!” She also leaves behind her dear sister and brother-in-law MaryJane and Olin Friant, many nieces and nephews, 3 Bridgeman step-children, their children and her dear friend Lenora Miller.
