Michael Quaid Tatlow was born on November 12, 1935, in Darby, PA and grew up in Sayreville, NJ. He has been a resident of Summit for over 50 years.

Mike earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1957. He then went to work at The US Patent Office in Washington, DC. In 1962 he received his Law Degree from Catholic University of America in Washington, DC

After graduating Mike landed a job with the New York law firm of Arthur, Dry, Kalish, Taylor and Wood. In 1968 Mike went to work for Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick, NJ where he was employed as a patent attorney for 30 years.

A summer resident of Beach Haven, Mike was an avid boater and enjoyed exploring the bays and rivers of NJ. As a teenage he had worked at Polly’s dock in Beach Haven renting row boats. So began his love of boating. Mike honed his skills while a member of Lackawanna Power and Sail Squadron taking boating courses and also teaching a few.

When he retired Mike managed to combine boating with vacations…house boating on Lake Powell, canal barging in France or following the route of the impressionists while cruising up the Seine.

Mike enjoyed museums, Broadway and concerts in New York City and was a great supporter of community theatre in New Jersey. He volunteered at the Summit Playhouse where he helped build sets and acted as treasurer for five years.

Mike was a member of Saint Teresa of Avila Parish in Summit where he had served as a Eucharistic Minister, CCD teacher and Pre Cana Team Leader.

Mike is survived by his wife, Kathryn Tatlow of Summit, NJ; two sons, Michael Tatlow and his wife Margaret, of Morristown, NJ; and Kevin Tatlow and his wife Alyce of San Mateo, CA; and four grandchildren: Bridgid, Michael, Quaid, and Claire. Also surviving are a sister, Mary Cush and husband Thomas of Naples, FL. He was predeceased by brothers Thomas and Richard Tatlow.

Mike was a kind and loving man who always looked out for his family. He will be missed.
