Mary Virginia "Ginny" Werder

Mary Virginia Pfaff Werder (Ginny) passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 13th.

Ginny was born in Elizabeth, NJ in 1935. She attended Rhode Island School of Design where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She taught in Cranford, NJ and also for a time at Kent Place School in Summit, NJ. She was a talented painter, working in oils and acrylic, an artist who was a lifelong teacher to those around her.

She married William J. Werder of Orange N.J. on October 18, 1958 and after a short time in Cranford, NJ they moved to New Providence, NJ where they raised seven loving children. In retirement they lived in Dorset, VT and later Gettysburg, PA. After Bill’s passing in 2010, Ginny moved to Woodstock, MD to be closer to family.

Ginny is predeceased by her loving husband Bill and wonderful sister Roberta (Bobby) Lonergan. She is survived by her brother Jack Pfaff of Bradenton, FL and her 7 children, son Jack Werder and wife Cathy of Raleigh, NC , son Bill Werder and wife Angela of Frederick, MD , son Jim Werder and wife Patricia of Hamilton, NJ , son Craig Werder and wife Allison of Longmeadow, MA, son Kurt Werder and wife Kristin of Pleasanton, CA , daughter Susan Werder and husband Dan Pharris of Seattle, WA and daughter Liz Amerault and husband Brian of Sykesville, MD. She was also blessed with 12 adoring grandchildren – Kelsey, Erica, Ashton, Ryan, Michael, Tiffany, Ben, Kate, Morgan, Brent, Lexi and Jack.

The family wishes to thank Visiting Angels, JJ and Juliana, and the wonderful neighbors from Waverly Woods for their love, care and companionship.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Alzheimer’s or Breast cancer research.

A Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Our Lady of Peace, 111 South St., New Providence, NJ 07974 with an inurnment following at St. Teresa’s Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 at Bradley Brough & Dangler Funeral Home, 309 Springfield Ave, Summit.
