Marilyn J. (Speck) Scripture

Marilyn was born in Morristown and raised in Chatham where she graduated from Chatham High School in 1954 and Burroughs Business School in Newark. The daughter of the late Marion and William Speck, she was raised by her beloved aunt and uncle, the late Ruth and George Philhower.

Marilyn had lived in Denville for many years before moving to Morris Plains in 1980. She moved to Forked River in 2013 after having had a summer home there for many years.

She was the manager/treasurer of the Sandoz Employee’s Federal Credit Union (now Novartis) for 26 years retiring in 1992. Subsequently, she was the manager of the Morris County Employee’s Federal Credit Union for 8 years. She was also the treasurer of the Lakeland Chapter of Credit Union for many years.

She was the beloved wife of the late Brinton (Brit) Scripture. She was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Philhower Grant and her nephew, Edward Grant. She is survived by her nephews Robert, David, and Gary Grant, cousins Barbara Bate and Margaret (Peggy) Ashdown, and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 10 am to 12 pm, with a Prayer Service at 12pm, at the Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. Chatham, NJ. Interment to follow at Restland Memorial Park.
