Margaret "Margie" Gillin

Margaret “Margie” Gillin, (nee Vahey), 94, of Short Hills, NJ passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 28, 2018. Born & raised in Ballyheane, Castlebar, Co. Mayo, Ireland, Margie came to the United States when she was 13. Margie resided in Brooklyn NY, Williston Park, NY, The Villages, FL and Denville, NJ. She was a secretary for the Brooklyn Navy Yard & Mercantile Exchange and a Manager of the Cafeteria at St. Mary’s Boys HS in Manhasset, NY. Margie was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Columbiettes & the Ladies Auxiliary at St. Aidan’s on Long Island. She loved knitting, gardening and dogs. Her family and friends we will always have a special place in our hearts for her. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Mitchell Patrick Gillin, her daughter, Eileen Parker and her grandson, Billy Parker, and her brothers John Vahey and Billy Vahey. Margie is survived by her daughter, Maureen & her husband Edward Bednarski, her granddaughter, Kelly Bednarski Krech, and grandson, Ryan Bednarski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 10 am at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave., Short Hills, NJ. Visiting hours will be Thursday, October 4th, from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. Chatham, NJ.
