Marilyn “Lyn” Gotlinger, 64, of Pinehurst, North Carolina, formerly of Millburn, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018 after a brief illness. Born in Amsterdam, New York, Lyn was raised in Millburn, where she ultimately raised her own family. After receiving her undergraduate degree from Cedar Crest College, Lyn earned a Masters degree in Special Education from Montclair State University. She enjoyed working as a special education teacher with the Westlake School and the Summit School System in NJ. Lyn loved cooking, entertaining, and giving to others. She was a member of the Garden, Mahjong, and Canasta Clubs at the Country Club of North Carolina where she and Jeff resided. She also enjoyed knitting with her friends “The Knit Wits”.
Predeceased by her father David J. Gardam and step father William Braunschweiger, Sr.; Lyn is survived by her best friend, prom date and husband of 42 years, Jeffrey; children Katherine Gotlinger, Laurie Gotlinger and Jenna Keenan and her husband Brian; her mother Betty J. Braunschweiger; sisters Donna Perkins and her husband Bruce, and Nancy Picnic; step mother Lynn Gardam; step sisters Linda Muller and Kristy Smith; step brother Bill Braunschweiger; brother-in-law Greg Gotlinger and his wife Betty; sister-in-law Phyllis Linger and her husband Jack. Lyn is also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave. in Short Hills, NJ. There will be a memorial visitation on Thursday from 6-9 PM at the Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main Street in Chatham, NJ. A memorial service will also be held at a later date in Pinehurst, NC.
