L. Doris Ammerman, 96, of Union, passed away on January 4, 2018 at Overlook Hospital.
Born in Elizabeth, she was raised in Hillside, and married in Oklahome City. She has lived in Union for 66 years. Doris was a member of the American Legion and Order of the Eastern Star. She was an ordained elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Springfield, and previously attended Townley Presbyterian Church in Union. Doris was an animal lover.
Doris worked for the Board of Health in Elizabeth, Queens City Pontiac as an office manager, Duran Ford as a clerk, and also at the NJ Motor Vehicle in Springfield.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Dorothy Munkel; her husband Robert William “Bud” Ammerman, and her brother Frank Munkel. She is survived by her daughter Ruth Ammerman; sister in law Louise Munkel; niece Gail and her family, and nephews Kenneth, Keith and Carl and their families.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 10am at the First Presbyterian Church of Springfield, at the corner of Church Mall and Morris Avenue in Springfield. Entombment will follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens. There will be a visitation on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Avenue, Union.
