~~Julio R. Policarpio, Sr, 98, of Millburn passed away at his home on Thursday, January 29th. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Rose of Lima, 50 Short Hills Ave, Short Hills on Monday, February 2nd at 10:00am. Friends are invited to visit at Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Ave in Springfield on Sunday from 4 to 8pm.

A lifelong resident of Millburn, Julio graduated from Millburn High School in 1934. Excelling in basketball, baseball and golf, he was elected to the Millburn High School Hall of Fame. Julio served in the US Army, 86th Engineers during WWII including the invasion at Omaha Beach. He was a Supervisor of the Millburn Recreation Department from 1947 to 1982. A longtime parishioner of St. Rose of Lima, Julio loved to play golf and was a member of the East Orange Golf Club.

Julio was the beloved husband of the late Muriel. He was the loving father of Julio and his wife Sandra and Joanne DiLauri and her husband David. He was the cherished grandfather of Jeff Policarpio (Cara), Julie Tornatore (Jeremy), Genna Weber (Jay), and David DiLauri. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren, his sister Margaret Werner, brother Nicholas Policarpio (Marie), sister-in-law Mary Policarpio as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings Ralph, Joseph, Fanny and Mary. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
