Joseph S. Pepe, Jr., 84, of Springfield and Martinsville, NJ, passed away on February 2, 2019. A funeral service will be held at Bradley, Brough and Dangler Funeral Home, 299 Morris Ave., in Summit on Saturday, February 9th at 10:00am. Born in Millburn, NJ, the son of Joseph and Lucy (Stelluto) Pepe, Joseph was raised in Springfield and resided there for 65 years before moving to Martinsville. A 1952 graduate of Jonathan Dayton High School, he excelled in football and baseball. He served in the U.S. Army and the National Guard. Joseph was a Warehouse Manager at Carpenter Technology in Union until his retirement.  After retirement in 2005, Joe opened Varsity Jackets Plus and enjoyed his patronage providing local high school letter recipients Varsity jackets.  Joseph was a past member of the Springfield Board of Education.  He enjoyed playing and organizing the softball program in Springfield.

Joseph was the beloved husband for 63years of the late Anne Pepe. He was the loving father of the late Joseph Pepe III, Steven Pepe and his wife Beverly, Daniel Pepe and his wife Cathy.  He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Kendell Pepe and her fiancé Vince, Steven Pepe, Daniel Pepe and Jake Pepe.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Joseph’s memory may be made to the Joseph Pepe III Memorial Scholarship Fund. 36 Ashwood Rd., New Providence, NJ 07974.
