Joseph P. Moore, Jr., 77, of Kendall Park, NJ passed away on July 10, 2019 peacefully surrounded by his family. Born in Manhattan, NY on April 5, 1942, he was a graduate of Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School (‘59), Manhattan College (‘63), and received an MBA from St. John’s University (‘69). Joe and Patricia (Lynch) were married on January 27, 1968 and recently celebrated 51 years of marriage.
Joe was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He had a long and successful career as a Finance Director at Warner-Lambert and happily retired in 2000 to enjoy his lifelong passions: spending time with family, reading, travel, wine, golf, and watching NY sports teams.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Bridget (McEntee) Moore and his sister, Mary Theresa Moore. He is survived by his wife Patricia (Lynch), his children, Katherine and husband Jonathan Strauss, Elizabeth and husband Thomas Pryma, Joseph and wife Carrie, and Michael and wife Alissa, and his sister Sheila and husband Bob Fullerton. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren: Liam, Ryan, Daniel, and Maeve Strauss, Jack and Colin Pryma, and Grace, Mairin, and Brooke Moore. In addition, he is survived by his in-laws Brendan and Nancy Lynch, Sean Lynch, and Joseph and Eileen Lynch, and his nephews James Fullerton, Christian Lynch, and nieces Doreen Delanoy, and Meghan Lynch.
Joe served on the Morris Plains Planning Board and the board of the Randolph YMCA. He coached in the Morris Plains Little League and served as an usher at Saint Matthew’s parish in Randolph NJ (which through his and other generous donations help to build).
Joseph was a member of Omega Lambda Phi Fraternity at Manhattan College. He was also a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon Honor Society in Economics and Delta Mu Delta Honor Society in Business Administration.
Joseph had an extensive wine collection, and spent many vacations exploring new vineyards on multiple continents. He belonged to the Heritage Book Club, which published some of the most important books in the Western canon. These hard cover books were proudly displayed on his bookshelves, and he encouraged his children to become avid readers.
Joseph gave extensively to charitable organizations. He not only donated money to worthy causes, such as: the Little Sisters of the Poor in Totowa, NJ, the Dominican Sisters in Caldwell, NJ, and the Christian Brothers of Narragansett, RI, but he could also be found serving at the local soup kitchen to those less fortunate.
Even though disease took Joseph before his time, he led a full, prosperous, and exemplary life. He would always say to those he loved, “I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!”
His family will receive guests at the Bradley, Brough & Dangler Funeral Home, 299 Morris Ave. Summit, NJ on Monday, July 15th from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 16th at 10:45am at St. Teresa of Avila 306 Morris Ave. Summit, NJ.
