Longtime Whippany resident, retired from Bell Labs/Lucent
John G. Trautman, 93, of Whippany, passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018. Born and raised in The Bronx, New York, John had been a resident of Whippany since 1950. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School in New York City, earned a BS degree in engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and went on to become a member of the Technical Staff at Bell Labs/Lucent for over 30 years, retiring in 1988.
John was a parishioner at Our Lady of Mercy Church, where he served as an usher, and participated with the Boy Scout and Cub Scout program. He was also a member of the AT&T Pioneers. John enjoyed home renovating, gardening and solving problems for unique situations.
John leaves behind his wife of 71 years, Florence (nee: Glynn); sons Clifford and Raymond; and daughter-in-law Bethellen.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 12pm at the Our Lady of Mercy Chapel, on Whippany Rd., in Whippany. The visitation will take place on Monday from 10am until 11:30am at the Bradley Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd., Whippany. Interment will take place on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 12pm at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, New York. Procession to the cemetery will leave the funeral home at 10am. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of John may be made to a charity of your choice.
