John J. Uanis, 88, of Chatham, formerly of New Providence passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2016.
Born in Bayonne, John was a longtime resident of New Providence before moving to Chatham 15 years ago. A veteran of the US Army, John served during the Korean War. He was the president of Highpoint Associates, a commercial real estate and insurance firm in Union City. John was active with the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed jogging, well into his senior years.
John was predeceased by his wife Barbara, and was one of 11 children, including Charles, Michael, Nicholas, Kay, Dorothy, Anne, Helen, Sophie, Jean and Mary. He is survived by his sons, John N. and James; and granddaughters Phoebe and Lilah.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday from 4-6pm at the Wm A Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Chatham. Funeral Service will be private. Contributions in memory of John may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
