Jeanette Anne Devine
12/22/1946 - 04/16/2018

With broken hearts, the family of Jeanette Anne Devine (nee Yammin) announces her passing on April 16, 2018 at home at the age of 71.  Jeanette was a resident of Summit, New Jersey, formerly of Danbury, Connecticut, New York, New York, Brooklyn, New York, and Scarborough, Maine.

Jeanette was born in Danbury, Connecticut on December 22, 1946.  She attended grammar and high schools in Danbury and graduated as a National Merit Scholar from Danbury High School in 1964.  After attending Long Island University in Brooklyn where she met Mike, her husband of 47 years, she worked for Reliance Insurance Company, the state of Connecticut as a mental health worker and finally spent many years as a psychiatric social worker at Kingsboro Psychiatric Center in Brooklyn.

A constant cheerleader for the underdog, no matter the cause, her infectious smile that she maintained to the very end, could light a room.  She was a voracious reader who applied lessons learned to daily life.  Over the years her dear feline companions, Scooter, Duffy and Molly brought her much joy and love.  Jeanette enjoyed colors, fabrics and the use of both in decorating her surroundings as well as those of others.

She will be deeply missed by Mike, her sisters Georgette and Diana and Diana’s husband Raymond, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Jeanette was predeceased by her father Fred Yammin and her mother Martha Yammin (nee O’Neill).

A memorial service will be held at a future date to be determined. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
