Henry Stephen Joostema, III, 84, of Madison, NJ, passed away on July 5, 2017. Visiting hours at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. in Chatham will be held on Sunday, July 9th from 4 to 8pm. Friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Monday, July 10th at 10am for final goodbyes before processing to Somerset Hills Memorial Park for a graveside service. Born in Yonkers, Henry was raised on several dairy farms in New Jersey. He had resided in Madison since 1955. Henry proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He had worked at Sandoz Pharmaceutical in East Hanover for 32 years before his retirement in 1997. Henry was a member of the Madison Lodge 93 F&AM, the Shriners of Livingston and the VFW Post 3401 of Morris Plains. He enjoyed NASCAR, dirt stock car racing and spending time with his family at their summer home in Susquehanna, PA.

Henry was the beloved husband of 61 years to Claire. He was the loving father of Ellen Sue Moore, the late H. Stephen Joostema, Lynn Criswell and her husband Jeffrey and Michael Joostema and his wife Brenda. He is also survived by his 5 cherished grandchildren, Heather Moore, Jeffrey Criswell, Molly Criswell, M. Derek Joostema and Brittany Joostema as well as many loving relatives. He is predeceased by his sister Eleanor Cartier. Donations in Henry’s memory may be made to either St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center, 575 Woodland Ave., P.O.
