~~Geraldine M. MacCauley of Chatham Twp., formerly of Plainfield, passed away on Tuesday May 2, 2017 at Chatham Hills Care Center in Chatham Twp. She was 87.
Visitation will be Friday, May 5, 2017, from 9:15 am to 10:15 am at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Chatham. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated following the visitation at St. Patrick’s Church, 85 Washington Avenue, Chatham at 10:30 a.m. An interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
Born in New York City, Geraldine lived in Plainfield for many years before moving to Chatham Twp. in 2011. She was a graduate of St. Nicholas of Tolentine High School in the Bronx, NY and later attended the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York City. She had a long and varied career, including time as a legal secretary and bookkeeper.
Geraldine loved the theater and was a long-time member of the Scotch Plains Players, where she held many positions and also volunteered for many New Jersey theatres, including Paper Mill Playhouse, Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey and the State Theater (New Brunswick). She was a member of the Auxiliary of the JFK Medical Center Foundation in Edison where she had served as Treasurer and the Republican Club of Plainfield. While living in Plainfield, she was a member of St. Bernard R.C. Church there.
Geraldine was the beloved wife of the late Robert M. MacCauley. She is survived by her daughter, Gina Lewis of New Jersey; her granddaughter, Jennifer Lewis of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews, all of New Jersey.
