George W. Johnston, Sr., of Whippany, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2014 at Care One at Hanover surrounded by his loving family, Bob, Joy, Shawn and Kim. Born in Kearny to John and Martha Johnston, he has lived in Whippany for the past 43 years. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jane (2012). Loving father of Bob and his wife Joy of Whippany and George Jr. and his wife MaryAnn of Cedar Knolls. Cherished grandfather of Shawn Johnston and his wife Gina Johnston, Kimberly and her husband JB Landers all of Whippany, Kathleen and her husband Justin Nardone of Hoboken, Amy and her husband Paul Irwin of Great Falls, Va. Beloved great grandfather of Keri Landers, Jimmie Landers, Sarah Irwin and Thomas Irwin and his best friend, Buster.
The Johnston’s would like to thank Care One at Hanover, for all the compassion and care they provided to him. He will always be remembered for his kind and caring way and the love he had for those around him.
Visitation will be held at the Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Road, Whippany, NJ on Thursday, November 6, 2014 from 6-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Chapel on Friday, November 7, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in his memory to Employment Horizons, Culinary Program, 10 Ridegedale Ave., Cedar Knolls, NJ 07927.
