~~Gary D. Smith, 68, of Denville passed away at Morristown Medical Center on January 19, 2015. A Memorial Service will be held at Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd in Whippany on Wednesday, January 28th at 1:30pm. Relatives and friends are invited to visit from noon to 1:30pm prior to the service. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Born in Morristown and raised in Cedar Knolls where he graduated from Hanover Park High School in 1965, Gary has lived in Denville since 1995. He was a graduate of the duCret School of Art in Plainfield and attended the Art Students League of New York in Manhattan. He served in the US Army in Viet Nam from 1966 to 1969. Gary worked in sales at Pelican Sport Center in Morris Plains. Previously he was a district manager for Prints & Things in NJ. Gary loved history, especially the Civil War. He also enjoyed all forms of art, music, outdoors and gardening. He will be fondly remembered for his love and devotion to his family and friends and his sensitivity to all things in nature.
Gary is predeceased by his parents, the late John and Catherine Smith, and his partner, the late Martha Matlock. He is survived by his beloved sister Geri Smith as well as many loving relatives.
