Elizabeth T. “Libby” Dorl, 76, of Morristown, NJ passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015 at her home.

Elizabeth was born on November 26, 1938 in Morristown, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clarence and Emilie (nee Christensen) Thompson.

Elizabeth was a graduate of Morristown High School and received her Bachelor’s degree from Beaver College which is now Arcadia College. Libby worked as a 4th grade teacher for Berkeley Heights from 1960-62. She later worked as a Title 1 teacher for the Chatham Public Schools for many years. Libby worked as a caseworker for Mental Health Association of Morris County until retirement. She later volunteered and became a board member with the Mental Health Association.

Libby was a member of Ski Club, Young Republicans, Junior League, Red Cross, and the Mental Health Association. She was a long-time member of the Chatham Township Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon for many years. She was formerly a member of the Morristown Presbyterian Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed swimming, spending time at the shore, reading and traveling. She received the Outstanding Scouting Volunteer Award from the Morris Area Girl Scout Council in 1977. She loved spending time with her cherished grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Roland T. Dorl and brother, Robert C. Thompson. She is survived by her children; Linda D. Schultz of Port Orange, FL, Heidi A. SanFilippo of Landing, NJ and Thomas R. Dorl and wife Barbara J. Dorl of Valdosta, GA. She was the cherished E-ma of Alicia Ionni and husband Joseph, Anthony and Billy SanFilippo, Alexandra E. Schultz, Stephanie Williams, Anna and Grace Dorl. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Nancy L. Thompson, several nieces and nephews, and her dear friend, Neil Russo.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Chatham, NJ 07928. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at the Chatham Township Presbyterian Church, 240 Southern Blvd., Chatham, NJ 07928. There will be a graveside service at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2015 at Evergreen Cemetery, Morristown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Libby’s memory may be made to Mental Health Association of Morris County or Red Cross.
