Elizabeth Fowler Azoy

Elizabeth Fowler Azoy, 95, of Chatham, New Jersey passed away on Monday, August 11, 2014 at her home.

Elizabeth was born on May 24, 1919 in Newburgh, New York. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anson and Hazel (nee Osterhoudt) Fowler.

She graduated from Smith College in 1942, and received her Master’s degree in Economics from New York University in 1953.

Elizabeth worked as a financial news reporter for the New York Times Newspaper for over 36 years before retiring in 1992. During her career at the New York Times, Elizabeth wrote on the stock and commodities markets, and consumer related news. She wrote a weekly personal finance column and, in later years with the Times, A weekly careers column. Elizabeth was the author of 5 books on financially related subjects and career planning.

Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Philip Livingston Azoy, after 54 years of marriage in 2004. She is survived by her daughters, Katrina Azoy and Cynthia Rooke and her grandson, Davis Rooke.

A Memorial Service will be held on November 08, 2014 at 11:00 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 70 Maple Ave, Morristown, NJ 07960.
