~~Elizabeth “Betty” Garrity, 85, of Chatham Borough passed away on March 17th. A Funeral Service will be held at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St, Chatham on Friday, March 21st at 10:00am. Interment is private. Friends are invited to visit on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
Born in Montclair and raised in West Orange where she graduated from West Orange High School, Betty had lived in Chatham since 1960. She received her Associates Degree from Southern Seminary College in VA. Betty worked for many years as a secretary at Engelhard Industries in East Newark and was a long time member of Chatham United Methodist Church.
Betty was the beloved wife of 57 years to John. She was the loving mother of James Garrity, Patricia Smith and husband Wayne, and John Garrity, Jr.. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Cheryl, Eric, Mackensie, Analisa, Ryan, Michael, James and William. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty’s memory may be made to the Chatham Emergency Squad, 45 Spring St, Chatham, NJ 07926.
