Elaine Dempsey, 62, of Union, passed away at her home, on Saturday, April 26, 2014, surrounded by her family. Born in Orange, Elaine has lived her whole life in Union. She worked as a registered nurse before raising and dedicating her life to her family. Elaine loved being “Welcomed Home” at the happiest place on earth, Walt Disney World, and enjoyed gatherings at the family shore house in Lavallette. Being the animal lover that she was, Elaine always had a pet by her side. She will be remembered for cherishing the simple things of life; watching her grandkids play, taking care of her house plants, and decorating for the holidays.
Elaine was predeceased by her parents, William and Monica Votapek, and brother Robert Votapek. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Joe; children Corie Myers and her husband Stephen, Kristin D’Andrea and her husband Mark, and Matthew Dempsey and his partner Dan Hall; grandchildren Julia, Emily, Ella, Taylor, Christian and grand-dog Barney; sister Mary Lou Votapek and brother William Votapek.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 10:15am at St Michael’s Church, 1212 Kelly St., corner of Vauxhall Rd., Union. Cremation will follow at Rosedale Crematory, Orange. There will be a visitation on Wednesday from 4-8pm at the Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Ave., Union.
