Eileen M. O'Shea

~~Eileen Murphy O’Shea of Summit, NJ passed away on March 17th, 2015, at Manor Care, New Providence, NJ. A funeral mass for Eileen will be held at Our Lady of Peace, 111 South Street, New Providence, NJ on Saturday, March 21st, 2015, at 10:30 am. Mrs. O’Shea was the wife of the late John C. O’Shea.

Born in Boston, MA, Eileen was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Murphy. She attended Burdett College and Boston University and had worked as a cardiac technician at Overlook Hospital. She had lived in Summit since 1950.

An avid American Folk Art historian and lecturer, Mrs. O’Shea had volunteered as a docent and colonial crafts demonstrator at many schools and institutions for the Miller-Cory Museum in Westfield for more than 40years. She also served on the museum’s Board of Governors. She was one of the founders and former treasurer of the Penn-Jersey Basketry Guild and a longtime member of the Fortnightly Club of Summit.

Surviving are her two daughters, Jacqueline Galano of Glen Head, NY, and Kyle of Newark, DE, two sons, Kevin of Auburndale, MA, and Gary of Summit, NJ, three grandsons Gregory, Andrew, and Christopher, three great grandchildren James, Daniel, and Vivian, and her brother Joseph Murphy.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Miller-Cory House Museum, Box 455, Westfield, NJ, 07091.
