~~Edwin Harkins, 87, of Berkeley Heights passed away on October 14, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Peace Church, 111 South St. in New Providence on Tuesday, October 17th at 11am. Interment is private. Born and raised in Elizabeth, the son of Philip and Helen (Farrell) Harkins, Edwin had also lived in Cranford and New Providence before moving to Berkeley Heights in 2005. A graduate of Seton Hall Prep, he received his Bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall University and his MBA from the NYU School of Business. Edwin was the owner of Management Solutions, Inc. in Berkeley Heights. Previously he had worked at the New York Stock Exchange, IBM, ESSO, Mobil and Hoffman-LaRoche. Edwin was a member of the both the Seton Hall Prep and Seton Hall University Alumni Associations, as well as the Summit Old Guard and the Knights of Columbus. An amateur member of the United States Tennis Association from 1980 to 2005, he was champion in 1995. Edwin was an avid sports enthusiast, he loved playing tennis and was a lifetime fan of the Seton Hall University Men’s basketball program.
Edwin was the beloved husband of 62 years to Clare. He was the loving father of James Harkins, Mary-Jo Cannone (Nicholas), and Marie Roberts (Cameron). He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Nicole Wegman (Nicholas), Michael Cannone, Teresa Cannone, Anna Cannone, Kelly Roberts, John Roberts, Brian Roberts, Elizabeth Harkins, Clare Harkins and Katherine Harkins and great grandson Thomas Edward Wegman.
