~~Edward N. Lippincott, a former Senior Partner of Stryker, Tams & Dill in Newark, died on 8/29/15 at Toad Hall, Little Falls, NJ. He was 76 and lived most of his life in Montclair. Mr. Lippincott graduated from George School, a private Quaker school in Bucks County, PA where he was a classmate and friend of Julian Bond. He then graduated from Brown University and Rutgers Law School where he was the Articles Editor of the Law Review. After clerking for Supreme Court Justice Vincent S. Haneman, Ted spent virtually his entire legal career at Stryker, Tams & Dill, where he became Chair of the firm’s real estate department. He was involved in all aspects of commercial real estate including land use, survey and planning and all phases of development, construction and financing.
Outside of the office Mr. Lippincott enjoyed opera and the arts. He had eclectic tastes which were reflected in his extensive art collection. He was involved with many entities such as the Montclair Art Museum, Newark Museum and Shakespeare Theatre at Drew University where he rendered legal counsel. Ted was a benefactor of the Leslie-Lohmann Art Gallery and Museum in New York. He was a member of the Montclair Historic Preservation Commission and also served on the board of and was president of the Essex Club in Newark. He was a trustee of the Newark Regional Business Partnership. For years Ted attended the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York.
He is survived by his sister Leslie and his nephews, Andrew and William Riordan and their families. Private graveside services will be held at the family plot at Westfield Friends Monthly Meeting, Cinnaminson, NJ.
There will be a memorial gathering with food and refreshment for Ted on Wednesday, September 30th from 5pm to 8pm with a “Time of Remembrance” to begin promptly at 6pm at The Brownstone House located at 351 West Broadway in Paterson, NJ 07552.
