Edward J. Makowski

Edward J. Makowski, age 92, of Whippany, NJ passed away on January 26, 2016 at Morristown Medical Center. He was born and raised in Whippany. Mr. Makowski was a carpenter who built many homes and additions in and around Whippany, a town that his parents settled in early 1900’s. His hobbies included playing cards, gardening and anything that brought the family together. He was an exempt member of the Whippany Fire Company and was a Founding Member and Past Commander of the American Legion, Post 155, member of Hanover Twp Senior Citizens and Polish-American Club. He was proud to serve his country in the Naval Air Force during WWII. Edward was predeceased by his beloved wife of 48 years Carmella Minnie (Bacchetta), in 1997 and by his parents Andrew and Marcella (Kilian) Makowski, sister Helen and brother Joseph. He is survived by his brother Walter Makowski of Ft. Belvoir, VA and Marie (Rose) Gallo of Cedar Knolls, his children Ed Makowski and his wife Linda of Whippany, Terry Yuzuik and her husband Bob of Oak Ridge, NC, and Jack Makowski and wife Mary of St. Paul, MN; his grandchildren: Thomas Yuzuik and wife Josaphine, Robert Yuzuik, Edward Makowski and his wife Marina, and Paul Makowski; his great-grandchildren: Eleanor and Luke Yuzuik and Izabella Makowski. Edward’s Life Celebration will include a visitation 4-7 pm on Friday January 29th at the Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd, Whippany. A 9:30 am Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday January 30th at St. Ann Church, 781 Smith Rd, Parsippany. Interment will follow at Holy Rood Cemetery in Morristown. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Whippany Fire Company Building Fund.
