~~Dr. Lubomir Jawny, 79, of Florham Park passed away at home on January 25, 2017. A funeral mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 60 N. Jefferson Rd in Whippany on Saturday, February 18th at 10am. Internment will follow at Holy Spirit Ukrainian Church Cemetery in Campbell Hall, NY. Friends are invited to visit at Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd in Whippany on Friday, February 17th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm with Parastas at 7:30 pm. Born in Pidhajci, Ukraine, the son of Dr. Gregory and Stefania Jawny, Dr. Jawny immigrated to the United States in 1950. First settling in Jersey City, he also lived in Rutherford, South Orange and Essex Fells before moving to Florham Park in 2003. Dr. Jawny received his undergraduate degree from St. Peters College in Jersey City and his Doctorate from Georgetown Medical School. After completing his residency at St. Michael’s Hospital in Newark, Dr. Jawny served his country in the U.S. Airforce from 1966 to 1968. Upon his return, he established his practice in an office in North Arlington, NJ, which later evolved into North Arlington Cardiology Associates. Dr. Jawny, a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, was on staff at St. Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, West Hudson Hospital in Kearny, St. Barnabas Hospital in Livingston and Clara Maass Hospital in Belleville. Dr. Jawny had a lifelong affiliation with the Ukrainian Scouting Organization “PLAST” and in his spare time enjoyed playing tennis, golf and sailing.

Dr. Jawny was the beloved husband of 54 years to Maria. He was the loving father of Dr. Olha Sokhan and her husband Dr. Oleh Sokhan, Roman Jawny and his wife Yaroslava, the late Tatiana Otto and her husband Keith and Lada Gawdiak and her husband Yuri. He is also survived by his cherished grandsons, Kyle, Jack, and Maximillian Otto, Lev and Zakhar Gawdiak, and Nestor Sokhan, as well as by his dear sister Ulana Diachuk.
