Dr. Leonard R. Eckle
A Beloved & Dedicated Optometrist
Leonard R. Eckle, O.D., 88, of Tinton Falls, NJ, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2015. Born and raised in Union, NJ, Dr. Eckle is the son of the late Leonard and Lydia (Hauser) Eckle. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ruth Kaffke Eckle. Dr. Eckle was an optometrist and practiced at his office, where they also resided in Springfield, NJ, until he retired in 2006. In 2009, they moved to the Seabrook Retirement Community in Tinton Falls. Leonard served his country with the U.S. Navy as a Pharmacist’s Mate from 1945-1946 during WWII. He attended Seton Hall University in South Orange and graduated from the Pennsylvania School of Optometry in 1951. His legacy as a beloved doctor was his dedication to the practice of optometry. He is fondly remembered for his compassion and kindness to his patients, He will also be missed by his friends and caregivers. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, August 6th at Bradley Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Ave., Union, from 10:30 to 12:00, with a Prayer Service at 12. Interment Hollywood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in Leonard’s name may be made to Seabrook Benevolent Fund, 3000 Essex Rd., Tinton Fall, NJ, 07701, or to a charity of your choice.
