~~Douglas Davis, 96, of Chatham and Morristown passed away on October 1, 2017. A memorial service will be held at the Chatham United Methodist Church, 460 Main St. in Chatham on Friday, October 20th at 11:00am. Born in Pace, Mississippi, the son of Grandville and Jessie Davis, Douglas had also lived in Clarksdale, Mississippi and Birmingham, AL before moving to Chatham in the early 1950’s. He had lived in Morristown for the past 20 years. A Staff Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps, Douglas proudly served in the south pacific during WWII. He was an engineer with NJ Bell in Murray Hill for 37 years until his retirement. Douglas was a member of the American Legion in Maplewood and was a longtime active member of the Chatham United Methodist Church. An expert craftsman, Douglas enjoyed cabinet making and building furniture as well as working on cars with his son Jeff.

A devout family man, Doug raised two proud children. Always willing to help others, he touched many lives, improving each and every one of them.

Douglas was the beloved husband of 72 years to Patricia (Loeffler). He was the loving father of Jeff Davis (Deborah) and the late Nancy Caldwell Tremblay (Pierre). He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Kathy Caldwell Smith (Jim), Kristie Caldwell Crumley (Michael), Amanda Caldwell Strine (Grant) and Amanda Zalis (Jeff) and great grandchildren, Courtney Justin, Haley, Michael, Kelly, Kayla, Jackson and Jeffrey.. In lieu of flowers, donations in Douglas’ memory may be made to either The ALS Association Greater Philadelphia Chapter, 321 Norristown Road, Suite 260, Ambler, PA 19002 or a charity of your choice.
