Dorothy “Dottie” Ann Cousins-Tator

Dorothy “Dottie” Schwab Cousins-Tator, age 85, of Harding Township, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2016 at Morristown Medical Center following a brief illness. She loved animals, especially Golden Retrievers, birds, flowers, old black and white movies, days at the shore and cross country skiing in Lake Placid. She also enjoyed gardening, music and reading and had a love of dolls since childhood. She was a longtime member of the Berkeley Heights Women’s Club Bowling League and the Berkeley Heights Community Pool. Dottie and her first husband, Richard George Cousin, who passed away in 1984, raised their children in Summit and Berkeley Heights, NJ. She worked for Prudential Insurance before starting her family and, later , as a secretary for the Summit YMCA’s Day Care Center in New Providence, NJ. Born on May 14, 1930, she was a graduate of Immaculate Conception School in Montclair, NJ. Dottie is survived by her beloved husband, Pierson “Pete” Tator; daughters Susan Cousins Breen (Gary) of Mickleton, NJ, and Allyson Anne O’Connor (Pete) of Basking Ridge, NJ., and a brother, William Schwab of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. She also had four grandchildren: Shawn Breen, Kelly Breen, Charles Neary Jr. (Lauren), and Alexandra Neary; two great-grandchildren: Kylee Neary and Dylan Neary, and three stepchildren: David Tator (Adrienne) of Summit, NJ, Christine Gentuso (Steve Sutherland) of Holliston, Mass., and Gwen Reedy (Gary) of Stafford, Va. She was also pre-deceased by her youngest daughter, Elaine, in 2014 and her parents, Stanley and Elizabeth Winter Schwab. Family and friends can visit at the Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. Chatham from, 6 to 9 pm on Monday, February 15, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, 10:30 am at St. James Church, 184 S. Finley Ave., Basking Ridge. Interment St. Teresa’s Cemetery, Summit.
