Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother

Dorothea (Dot) Adeline Luke (nee Fleischer) of Toms River and Chatham, NJ, passed away peacefully at Morristown Memorial Hospital on January 1, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Her love and devotion were always for her family both immediate and extended. Her life was full of friends, too, because of her kind, caring and gentle ways. Dorothea was born on October 14, 1920, in Bayonne, NJ. She graduated from North Arlington High School. She was employed for 31 years by Westinghouse Electric Company in Bloomfield, NJ, having retired in 1981. She had many positions with the company, ending her career as an administrative secretary. She had a full and wonderful retirement spending time with family, friends and travels. Dorothea was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Lester Luke and her three brothers, Kenneth, Arthur and Edwin. She is survived by her son, Donald L. Luke and his wife, Suzanne, and her daughter Joyce L. Stevens, and her husband Drew. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Paige Anne Smith and husband Kenny, Todd Luke and wife, Kate; Michael Stevens; and Megan Calveley and husband Chris. Dorothea is also survived by 8 beautiful great-grandchildren who loved her dearly; a brother, Homer Fleischer of Houston, Texas; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews as well as several great-great nieces and nephews. She was loved by many and will be missed by all. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016, from 4 to 8 pm at the William A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. Chatham, NJ. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 11 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothea’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O.
