Donald Smith, 70, passed away on September 16, 2016 at Alaris Nursing Home in West Orange, NJ. He was born in Newark and lived in Maplewood, NJ. Donald was pre-deceased by his parents, Dorothy (nee Suesser), and Donald Smith. He is survived by his cousins, Raymond Suesser of Morris Plains, NJ and Carole Henderson of Barnegat, NJ. Don graduated from Oratory Prep in Summit, served in the National Guard and was employed by the Bell Telephone Company until he retired. He was a long time member of the Friendly Sons of The Shillelaghs in West Orange. He loved everything Irish. Don had a wonderful personality and a great sense of humor. He was an avid reader, never without a book in his hand, and he also enjoyed music. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. Chatham, NJ. Visiting hours, 12 pm to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Donald’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.
