Daniel P Testa

Dr. Daniel P. Testa, 86, of South Orange, NJ and formerly of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2014 at Inglemoor Rehabilitation and Care Center, Livingston, NJ.

Dr. Testa was born in 1927 in St. Paul, MN. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota and the University of Michigan, where he earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Romance Languages and Literatures. Dr. Testa was a Spanish professor at Syracuse University for 30 years, including serving as chairman of the Spanish department and teaching in Madrid, Spain with SU’s study abroad program. One of his main scholarly interests was the 17th Century Spanish novel, “Don Quixote” written by Miguel de Cervantes and he was a founding member of the Cervantes Society of America. Dr. Testa also edited and/or contributed to many academic journals and books. He was a passionate lecturer and professor who loved working with students and traveling to Spain. He enjoyed playing racquetball and was a regular at the Track & Racquet Club for many years.

Daniel is remembered with much love by his daughters and their families; Elizabeth Testa and husband Nick Licata, Alicia and Manuel Santamaria, and his four beloved grandchildren. He is also survived by five sisters, and many nieces, nephews, and loved ones. He is predeceased by his wife, Dr. Janice Testa and five siblings.

A service and burial will be held at a later date in St. Paul, Minnesota.
