Long Time New Providence Resident
Catherine M. Feeney (nee Smith), 87, of New Providence, NJ, passed peacefully on January 24, 2017. Born and raised in Newark, Catherine has lived in New Providence since 1977. Catherine worked for Prudential in 1946 in the medical department and retired in the General Actuarial and Claim Group until, February 1979 at the age of 50. Following Prudential, Catherine worked for Martindale-Hubble as an Account Executive from 1990-2003.
Catherine is pre-deceased by her parents, Philip & Rose Brady Smith, her brother Philip Smith, Jr. and her beloved ex-husband Thomas J. Feeney. Catherine is survived by her sister-in-law and very best friend Barbara Glass Smith, her 10 step-children, Thomas (Jane), Michael (Cathy), Peter (Denise), Mary Pat Kessler (Jack), Timothy, Anne Marie Mascari (Rob), Maureen Byrne (pre-deceased by her husband Tom), Kathryn Ford (James), Noreen McGuane (Barry), and 17 grandchildren, Colleen Feeney Shiro (Jeff), Casey, Connie, Blasé, Peter, Michael & Katie Feeney, Joan & Patricia Kessler, Olivia, Sophia & Bobby Mascari, Tommy, Joseph, Matthew & Michael Byrne and Shane Ford, A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, January 30, 2017 at 10am at Our Lady of Peace Church, 111 South St. New Providence, NJ. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Catherine’s name may be made to St. Vincent Academy, 228 W. Market St. Newark, NJ.
