Barbara O. Newell, 74, of Summit passed away surrounded by her loving family at Overlook Hospital on October 15th. A Funeral Service will be held at Bradley, Brough & Dangler Funeral Home, 309 Springfield Ave in Summit on Monday, October 20th at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield. Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm.
Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, Barbara came to the United States in 1966 settling in Summit. She worked for many years as a sales associate at Rafters in Summit. Barbara was a long time member of the Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witnesses in Springfield. She enjoyed gardening and will be fondly remembered for how she so loved the time spent with family.
Barbara was the loving mother of Christoff Newell, Carlyle Newell, Wayne Newell and his wife Ann, Elizabeth Newell, and Paul Newell. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren; Lauren, Julie, Jake, Liam, and Elijah and dear sisters; Audrey Gaskin and Grace Linton.
