Alan S. Margolies, 91, of Bridgewater, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Green Knoll Center, Bridgewater, NJ.

Alan was born on November 5, 1923, in North Bergen, New Jersey. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert P. and Esther (nee Moss) Margolies.

Alan was an Eagle Scout- Alexander Hamilton Council; proudly attended the very first National Boy Scout Jamboree in 1937. He was a graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology.

He was an avid model railroad hobbyist; wine collector, traveler and lecturer; artist. He owned and operated Embassy Wines, Morristown, NJ from 1980-1990, after a long career at M. Epstein’s Department Store.

He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years and the love of his life, Dottie Margolies. He is survived by daughter, the Honorable Gail M. Cookson and husband, Louis of Bridgewater, NJ, son, David A. Margolies and wife Susan of Rockville, MD, daughter, Ann F. Margolies and partner Paola Bartuli of Rome, Italy, and son, Peter H. Margolies, Trenton, MI. He was the cherished grandfather to Sara A. Redpath and husband Andrew of Langley, BC, Jason Lambert of Salem, VA, Warren A. Margolies and wife Rebecca of Bethesda, MD, and great-granddaughter, Lucille J. Redpath, and great grandsons; Wyatt K. Redpath and Ezra A. Margolies.
