Yvonne Rebecca, 86, of Hillside, NJ passed away peacefully at Beth Israel Hospital on Wednesday, February 13th, 2019. Yvonne was born on October 03, 1933 in Leogane, Haiti. She was the daughter of the late Etienne Rebecca and Gilna Ferdinand.
Yvonne loved cooking and sewing for her family and friends. She had a hand in raising not only her nine children, but also her many grandchildren. On any given day she would be found cooking her grandchildren favorite meals or fixing their clothes. She spent some of her time walking them to school and looking after them as well. She would find any way she could to help out her children and loved ones.
Yvonne will be remembered for her voice of reason. Yvonne was stern in her words of wisdom yet understanding and loving. She made a living in Haiti as both, a boutique owner and seamstress. Often times Yvonne would take in young girls in need. She provided shelter for them and treated them like her own. She truly had a heart of gold.
Yvonne was the loving mother of nine children; daughter, Marie Carole Jean-Louis, daughter, Jocelyne Theodore, son, Andre Tony Theodore, daughter, Jamanique Theodore, son, Roger Richard Theodore, son, Yves Theodore, daughter, Sophia Theodore, son, Gerald Theodore, and daughter, Marie Medjine Theodore. She was a loving grandmother to 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was survived by her brothers and sisters, Vital Rebecca, Soillis Cilus, Coutant Cilus, Caristéne Cilus, Rosette Cilus, and RoseMarie Cilus.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Roger Theodore, and her two children son, Rodney Theodore and daughter, Yanick Theodore. Lastly her brothers, Gesner Cilus and St Hilaire Cilus.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 9 am to 10:30 am at Church Ministry of Prayer, 2104 Stanley Terrace, Union, NJ. Interment Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth. Visiting hours, Friday, February 22nd from 5 pm to 9 pm at the Bradley Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Ave. Union, NJ
