William Wise, age 70 of Ocean, formerly of Bloomfield, passed away on January 6, 2017 at his home. Bill, who was born in Queens, NY on October 9, 1946, lived for many years in Bloomfield, NJ. Following the death of his parents, William and Dorothy, he moved to Ocean Township in 2006 to live near his brother John. Bill was employed by The Internal Revenue Service in Newark where he was a mail clerk for over 30 years.
Bill was the beloved older brother to John and his partner Diane of Ocean Township, and David and his wife Catherine of Cohasset, Massachusetts and the loving and proud Uncle to Leo and his wife Anne, Jayne and her wife Jenna, Andrew, Ellen and Will Wise. He is also survived by his favorite Aunt Pat and the Byrne, Prochazka, Cowhig, Wood and Wise cousins.
Bill was a man of varied and intense interests about which he developed an encyclopedic knowledge. He was a prolific painter and loved to travel. Those who knew him remember his kindness, earnestness and the respect he showed to all. Above all, Bill valued relationships with family and friends. He overcame life’s obstacles with grace and a quiet tenacity. He lived a productive and independent life.
